Grounded Endurance Coaching

Grounded Endurance Coaching

Coaching for the runner you are.

Individualized running and endurance coaching grounded in your goals, your life, and where you want to go.

Why Grounded Endurance?

I've been running my whole life and running ultra distances for well over 10 years. I've learned as much, if not more, from the things I've gotten wrong as the things I've gotten right.

I've trained too hard, underestimated recovery, chased goals that were right for someone else, made a lot of mistakes, changed course, and learned, often the hard way, that more isn't always better. Through it all I've figured out that training with intention and patience is the key to healthy, sustainable running and achieving far more than you thought was possible.

That's a big part of what grounded means to me.

I don't believe there's a perfect training plan or one right way to be a runner. I believe in staying curious, paying attention, and staying flexible. To me, good coaching isn't about pretending to have every answer. It's about bringing experience and knowledge to the table, asking good questions, and continuing to learn alongside an athlete.

Your training should meet you where you are while helping you move toward where you want to go. It should challenge you without consuming you, provide structure without becoming rigid, and leave space for the rest of your life.

I want to help you understand yourself and your own running, trust yourself when things inevitably get hard, and help you build the resilience and confidence to pursue goals that matter to you.

Grounded Endurance is about learning what moves you forward and helping you find the courage to adapt and overcome.

Meet Your Coach

I'm Alex, a UESCA-certified running coach, trail and ultrarunner, and writer with more than a decade of experience in the sport.

My specialty is ultrarunning, winter ultras, and multi-day endurance events. My own experience ranges from 50Ks and mountain 100-milers to winter ultras and 200+ mile events, including Arrowhead 135, Tuscobia 160, Tahoe 200, and Cocodona 250. I also set the first women's supported fastest known time on Minnesota's 310-mile Superior Hiking Trail, completing the route in just over six and a half days.

Those experiences have given me a particular understanding of what happens when an event extends beyond a traditional race: managing fatigue and recovery, moving through the night, adapting to weather and terrain, troubleshooting when plans fall apart, and preparing mentally and physically for days rather than hours of forward movement.

I bring that experience to athletes pursuing ambitious endurance goals, while also coaching runners who are just beginning to explore longer distances. You don't need to already be an ultrarunner or run a certain pace to belong here.

My coaching is individualized, evidence-informed, and grounded in the athlete in front of me.

How It Works

1. Start Where You Are

Tell me about your running, your life, what excites you, what's been challenging, and where you'd like to go. There's no prerequisite for having a big goal.

2. Find the Right Fit

We'll talk one-on-one about your goals and what you need from coaching. Coaching is a relationship, and it matters that it feels right on both sides.

3. Build Your Way Forward

There's no template. I'll build your training around your experience, available time, strengths, goals, terrain, and the realities of your life.

4. Do the Work. Stay Curious.

You train. We communicate. We pay attention to how you're responding, what we're learning, and what needs to change.

5. Adapt & Keep Moving

Training rarely goes exactly as planned, and that's part of endurance. We'll adjust through busy weeks, setbacks, breakthroughs, changing goals, and everything in between.
